Individual Psychotherapy and Counselling
I work with individuals experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, psychosomatic symptoms, low self-esteem, family difficulties, relationship and communication difficulties, personal development issues, and significant life transitions, including becoming a parent, separation, divorce, career changes, retirement, illness, loss and bereavement.
Each session lasts one hour. In the initial sessions, we explore your difficulties and needs together and identify your therapeutic goals. Based on the issues identified and the goals agreed, we then decide on the frequency and duration of the therapeutic process.
Counselling is a short-term intervention and is suitable for individuals seeking support in managing specific difficulties relating to their current circumstances. It often represents the first stage of the psychotherapeutic process.
Psychotherapy is a longer-term process through which individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves and make meaningful changes in the way they relate to themselves, to others, and to life more broadly.
Couples Therapy and Counselling
Through this process, couples are supported in addressing difficulties in their relationship. They are helped to understand how their relationship is structured, the roles each partner adopts, and the ways in which they interact with one another.
By identifying the patterns within their relationship that contribute to the difficulties they are experiencing, couples can develop healthier ways of communicating and strengthen their emotional connection.
Through the counselling process, couples have the opportunity to:
• improve their ability to communicate, express themselves and listen to one another
• manage disagreements and conflict
• navigate challenging periods in their relationship
• redefine their relationship and establish a new direction together
• manage an upcoming separation together
Parenting Counselling
Parenting counselling is intended for parents who wish to strengthen their parenting skills and receive support with the challenges they may be facing.
Through the counselling process, parents have the opportunity to:
improve their relationship and communication with their children
develop healthy and non-violent boundary-setting skills
support their children's self-esteem and emotional autonomy
manage family-related challenges such as conflict, divorce, sibling relationships and relationships with grandparents
support their children when they experience difficulties relating to anxiety, school performance, peer relationships, bullying or excessive internet use
Group Counselling and Psychotherapy
The group provides a safe therapeutic environment in which individuals can explore the issues and difficulties they are experiencing through interaction with other group members and the feedback they receive. The secure relational environment of the group provides a foundation for meaningful change, encouraging individuals to develop new ways of understanding themselves and relating to others.
Participation in a therapy group takes place following discussion with the therapist and after completing a number of individual sessions. Groups meet weekly and each session lasts two hours.
In addition, short-term counselling groups are offered, around specific themes and/or for particular groups of participants, such as parents, women or adolescents. These groups are open to anyone who is interested, including those who have not previously attended individual therapy.
